Happiness, The Elusive Factor In Your Life

The forces of materialism have influenced mankind with warped definitions of happiness. They have instilled wrong belief in man that his source of happiness lies in the carnal and materialistic pleasures. This is a gross degradation of the divine virtue. Happiness cannot be bought or gained by manipulating others. It has to be realized.

Carnal pleasures and materialist things are almost always mistaken as a source of true happiness. Anything outside of you that gives a sense of happiness is transient and fickle. These things that cater to the lower desires of the carnal mind cannot render true, eternal happiness. the pleasures of the lower self end just as quickly as the activity itself, or as long as the objects of desire last. All things of matter on the physical plane have dense vibrational frequency, and thus they are prone to wear and tear. The dense vibrations cannot help retain perfection and durability of

any material thing. How then can it guarantee you eternal happiness when the matter itself is so temporal.

Moreover, the pleasures of the lower-self, that revolve around carnal needs and desires are of the lowest order, and the pleasure that they render is superfluous and deceiving. This leaves you ever in want for more, which then creates an undesirable craving and lust in you, leading to all kinds of obsessive habits. The lower-self is impossible to satisfy. It is like a bottomless pit which, no matter how much you try to fill, will always remain empty. This is why people experience so much of disillusion and emptiness in their lives in spite of having all that the matter world has to offer. False sense of happiness leads to sorrows. Detach yourself from materialism, and sublimate your desires.

True happiness is within you. It is in the simple joys of life, in the beauty of Nature. It is in making others happy. Peace and happiness is the natural state of the soul. To find eternal happiness you need to tap

into your inner resources by way of prayers and meditation. Connect with your God-self and with the energies of Mother Nature. Attend to the needs of your soul; your soul cares very little for materialism. Give it freedom to fly on the wings of unconditional love. It is athirst of freedom from all that is compelling, which your carnal mind is subjecting it to.

Observe how happy and carefree the little children are! They do not need money to be happy. They thrive on love itself. Even a child who hails from a poverty-stricken family laughs and romps around, his heart full of happiness as long as he has his mother's love and care. Pure happiness comes with no terms and conditions. You can be happy in the face of grave difficulties, and no one can make you feel guilty for it. It is kind of a challenge to your ordeals. When you laugh away your sorrows, your troubles lose ground and weaken. You can thereby overcome them without much of a struggle. but when you bemoan your fate, you are giving it power to strengthen its hold on you, and cause you more misery.

Finally, your happiness lies in giving a long rein to those whom you love. Possessiveness suffocates the soul and snuffs the love out of you. Your happiness depends upon making others happy. "Live and let live" should be your motto in life. Happiness is here to stay when you live righteously, doing all that makes you worthwhile and partaking in the joys of others.

Very well written. You have to attain happiness yourself first in order to bring happiness to others. And as you said happiness has to come from within to be true and positive and effective.

The worldly science is yet in its infancy as it is not yet equipped to deal with anything beyond the physical aspect of life. It can only postulate and use scientific jargon to impress upon the layman of its research. It does not really get close to anything of the spiritual aspect of man.

So do individual ways of thinking and expressing feeling. Researchers estimate that much of happiness is under personal control. Regularly indulging in small pleasures (such as warm baths!), getting absorbed in challenging activities, setting and meeting goals, maintaining close social ties, and finding purpose beyond oneself are all actions that increase life satisfaction.

Philosophers, theologians, psychologists, even economists, have long sought to define it, and since the 1990s, a whole branch of psychology—positive psychology—has been dedicated to pinning it down and propagating it. More than simply positive mood, happiness is a state of well-being that encompasses living a good life—that is, with a sense of meaning and deep satisfaction. Research shows that happiness is not the result of bouncing from one joy to the next; achieving happiness typically involves times of considerable discomfort.

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happy mental states may also reflect judgements by a person about their overall well-being.A variety of biological, psychological, economic, religious and philosophical approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources. Various research groups, including positive psychology and happiness economics are employing the scientific method to research questions about what "happiness" is, and how it might be attained.
